Abstract

Burns ranked among the 15 as the main cause of death. The incidence of serious burns about 95% more prevalent in low- and middle-income countries according to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2012. Leaf gedi(Abelmoschosmanihot L.) can be used as an alternative to anti-inflammatory and wound healing because it contains, such as flavonoids, tannins, and alkaloids active. This study aims to demonstrate the activity of ethyl acetate fraction ointment preparation gedi leaves and determine the effective concentration of ethyl acetate fraction and gedi to the healing of burns. Ointment ethyl acetate fraction was made within three formula concentration of 6.25%, 12.5% and 25%. Organoleptic test its physical properties, homogeneity, dispersive power, pH, viscosity, and adhesiveness. Burn healing activity test carried out on the backs ofwhite New Zealandrabbits. Wound healing measurement results were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance. Ethyl acetate fraction lubrication gedi leaves with a concentration of 6.25%, 12.5%, 25% have an effect on the healing of burns. Statistical analysis showed that the ethyl acetate fraction ointment preparation leaves in a concentration of 12.5% gedi shows the effect of healing of burns optimum and not significantly different from the positive control. Increasing concentrations of ethyl acetate fraction ointment preparation showed increased healing effects of burns.
