Abstract
Bawang dayak (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr) contains flavonoids, alkaloids, and tannin that have activity as an antifungal. This study is aimed to determine the activity of the ethanol extract of 96%, the fraction of n-hexane, ethyl acetate fraction, and water fraction of bawang dayak's tuber against the spread of Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Bawang dayak's tuber was extracted by maceration method used ethanol 96%, then was fractionated by using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water solvents. The extraction and fractionation was tested the antifungal activity used the diffusion method with concentration of 50%, 25%, 12.5% and dilution method with concentration of 50%, 25%, 12.5, 6.25%, 3.125%, 1.56% , And 0.78%. Positive control used ketoconazole and negative control was DMSO 5% .The result of antifungal activity test was analyzed by one way anova method. The results of bawang dayak’s tuber experiment showed that all fractions and extracts had antifungal activity. The results of extract a drag zone diameter, nhexane fraction, ethyl acetate, and water for concentration 50% were 16.55 mm, 14.57 mm, 24.78 mm, and 17.44 mm. The concentration for 50% ethyl acetate fraction is the most active fraction with a Minimum Killable Concentration value of 12.5%. Keywords: bawang dayak’s, Candida albicans, antifungals, fraction
