Abstract

Incidence of caesarean increasied every year. The use of prophylactic antibiotics in caesarean section may reduce the risk of infection-related complications and post-operative infections. This study aims to describe and evaluate use of antibiotic prophylaxis in caesarean patients in RSUD Salatiga 2014 based on The Hospital Formularium and ASHP Theraupetic Guidelines. This study is a non-experimental, descriptive and retrospective data collection. Data used as samples in this study were 78 cases with data retrieval method with purposive sampling of 360 cases of caesarean section in RSUD Salatiga 2014. Evaluation includes type of antibiotics prophylactic are used, dosage, frequency, used time, and duration of administration compared to the Hospital Formularium and ASHP Theraupetic Guidelines. Antibiotic prophylaxis which used in RSUD Salatiga 2014 was Cefotaxim (79,49%) and Ceftriakson (20,51%). Which dosage, frequency, used time, and duration of administration was appropriate to the Hospital Formularium 2014, but type of antibiotics prophylactic disappropriate to ASHP Theraupetic Guidelines.
