Abstract

Areca nut is one of the traditional plant where has been used as natural insecticide. The purpose of these research is to detect insecticide activity of Areca nut (Areca catechu L.) against Anopheles aconitus, would be presented with KC50 and LC50 values. The extract made by maseration extraction methode, mixed the extraction output with the solvent to make extract more liquid until has 5 different concentration. The concentration are 1,56%, 3,125%, 6,25%, 12,5%, and 25%. Testing was conducted to 20 mosquitos on glass chamber. Observations conducted during 20 minutes to observe knockdown and after 24 hour to observe mosquitos death. Afterwards calculated KC50 and LC50 value used probit analyze. The result showed the ethanol extract of areca nut (Areca catechu L.) has insecticide activity. It has KC50 value on 68,87% and LC50 values on 14,65% against Anopheles aconitus.
