Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disease or metabolic disorder which characterized by high blood sugar levels. Soursop (Annona muricata Linn) contain compounds of tannin, saponin, polyphenol, alkaloid which have antihyperglycemic activity. This study was aimed to determine the antihyperglycemic activity extract of soursop, and determine effective dose in decrease blood glucose levels of diabetes rats alloxan-induced. Extraction was made by maceration method using ethanol 70% solvent. The method of antidiabetes test used was alloxan diabetes. Animal test was divided into 4 groups, each group consist of 5 white male rats, i.e: Group I diabetes control (CMC 0.5%); group II, group III and IV, was given dose of soursop extract 15 mg/200 g BW rats, 30 mg/200 g BW rats, 60 mg/200 g BW rats, respectively. All groups induced alloxan 150 mg/kg BW on day 0 (after fasted for 16 hours) intraperitoneally. Examination of blood sugar levels on day 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th after administration of preparation test. The test results using ethanol 70% solvent showed that the soursop extract had antihyperglycemic activity. Soursop extract dose of 15 mg/200 g BW decrease blood glucose levels the most effective compared to other doses. Keywords: (Annona muricata Linn), diabetes rat, alloxan, antihyperglycemic.
