Abstract
Staphylococcus aureus infection have lower power, and more common in mild skin infections. Staphylococcus aureus is a bacteria that can cause infection of the hair follicles, boils, acne, wound infections, meningitis and pneumonia. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of a combination of ethanol extract of petals roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn) with cinnamon bark (Cinnamomum Burmani) against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. A combination between traditional crops can be useful (synergistic) or destructive (antagonistic) on therapy antibacterial. 70% ethanol extract Rosella flower petals and cinnamon by maceration. The combination of the ethanol extract of sweet petals rosella: cinnamon made a comparison (50:50); (75:25); (25:75). Media were incubated for 24 hours at a temperature of 370C and observed the results. Area clearly shows the inhibition of the growth of microorganisms by antimicrobial agents. Co-trimoxazole is used as a control comparison of 4.8 mg / ml and 1% DMSO as a negative control. Combination of 70% ethanol extract rosella flower petals and cinnamon has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus most ATCC 25923 which is the ratio of 50:50 and 75:25 18.6 mm by 20.6 mm. The active compound is bioautografi flavonoids contained in a combination of 70% ethanol extract rosella flower petals and cinnamon capable of inhibiting activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923.
