Abstract

The change of community lifestyle such as a diet which containing highfat intake poses a risk of hyperglycemic conditions. Pharmacological therapy potential to cause side effects, then needed an alternative that can be used, for example using seligi leaf extract. The purpose of this study was, to determine the activity of ethanol extract of seligi leaf to the effects of decrease in blood glucose levels and determine the most effective dose. Animal test of mice were treated using alloxan in order to increase blood glucose levels. Mice which had increase in blood glucose levels gave treatment i.e. group 1 negative control (CMC 0.5%), group 2 extract 5.6 mg/20 g bw, 3 groups extract 8.4 mg/20 g bw, and group 4 extract 11.2 mg/20 g bw. Then measuring blood glucose levels using new glucometer Easy Touch which has validated. Data analysis using one-way ANOVA test by SPSS. The results showed that ethanol extract of seligi leaf could decrease blood glucose levels in white mice alloxan-induced, margin decrease of blood glucose levels seligi leaf extract dose of 5.6 mg/20 g bw; 8.4 mg/20 g bw; and 11.2 mg/20 g bw were 100.20 mg/dl; 129.00 mg/dl; and 155.20 mg/dl, respectively. The most effective ethanol extract of seligi leaf in decrease blood glucose levels in mice was dose 11.2 mg/20 g bw mice. Keywords: hyperglycemic, alloxan-induced, blood glucose levels, seligi leaf.
