Abstract

Mangosteen rind is a part of a plant shown have antioxidant activity because has a flavonoid compound in it. The objective of this research are, the effect of variation concentration emulsifier of the formula about the antioxidation activity and the physical test, and which one the best emulsifier variation concentration. Etanolic extract of mangosteen rind was geted from using the macceration method with 70% ethanol. Creams were made of 5 formula wherein formula 1, 2, and 3 respectively containing stearic acid and trietanolamine ratio were 10:2, 15:3, 20:4 and formula number 4 as a negative control and formula nuber 5 as a positive control included 1% of rutin. The physical test on preparation coinclude homogenety, viscosity, adhesion, dispersive power, and test the pH. Test the antioxidant activity have the DPPH method. The results showed the emulsifier (stearic acid : trietanolamine) efect phisical properties of the cream, the higher the concentration ratio of the emulsifier the viscosity and adhesion will be higher too, and the dispersive power will be smaller, but in the antioxidant activity the emulsifier ratio does not get an affect. Formula 1 get the best emulsifier variation concentration (stearic acid : trietanolamine) the variation is 10:2. Keywords: ethanol extract of mangosteen rind, cream, stearic acid : trietanolamin
