Abstract

Mulberry leaves contains flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and polifenols. Lipid can minimize peroxidation flavonoid by inhibitor at HMG-COa enzyme reductace flavonoid that is the synthesis cholesterol. The purpose of this research is to know and the influence of mulberry (Morus asutralis Poir) leaves ethanol extract against LDL levels blood serum at wistar white male rats haves extract, the anti-atherosclerosis, and in lowering LDL levels in the blood serum. The research uses 30 test animals grouped into 6 and each test group consits of 5 male white rats. Group I as normal control, group II negative control (CMC), group III positive control (Simvastatin), group IV extract dose of 25 mg/200 g BW, group V extract dose 50 mg/200 g BW, group VI extract dose 100 mg/200 g BW. Animals given a diet test aterogenik for 4 weeks and test of LDL level measured on day 0, day 28, day 35, and day 42. On the day of the 42 observed histopatologi the aorta to see the effect of anti-atherosklerosis. This research shomed than ethanol extract of mulberry leaves with a dose of 100 mg/200 g BW decrease of LDL levels and showed a decrease in the thickness of the aorta walls in tunika intima and tunika media.
