Abstract

The incidence of cesarean section from year to year is increasing, the use of prophylaxis antibiotic in cesarean section patients proven can prevent or reduce the incidence of surgical wound infection. This study was aimed to describe the antibiotic use in cesarean section patient from type, route of administration, dosage suitability, frequency, and the duration of use. The research was descriptive survey study with retrospective decision in 229 medical record of patients who received prophylaxis or therapy antibiotics. The data obtained shows the type the most widely use of prophylaxis antibiotic was sefalosforin class third generation i.e. ceftriaxone (86.03%) and combination of ceftriaxone-metronidazole (3.93%). The most widely use of type of therapy antibiotic was sefalosforin class first-generation i.e. single cefadroxil as much (81.22%) and combination of cefadroxil-metronidazole as (5.68%). Route of administration prophylactic antibiotics intravenously (100%) and therapy antibiotic orally (100%). Antibiotic dose which used fulfilled dose suitability, with the most duration of use prophylaxis antibiotic for 2 days (67.25%), and therapy for 3 days (57.21%).
