Abstract
Plastic is a mixture containing a polymer, filler, plasticizer, and flame retar, antioxidants, lubricants, heat stabilizers and colorants. The risks of such compounds toxic chemical compounds can migrate from plastics to food, among other things because of the effect of temperature and contact time. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of formaldehyde in the plastic bag with the effect of soaking temperature. The first step of this test by using the qualitative test reagent kromatofat acid 0.5% which will show the color purple, if the sample contains formaldehyde. Wavelengths used in this study was 568.8 nm and the output of operating time show stabil point for 15-30 minute. The conditions used for the reading of the calibration curve and the assay sample. The results of this study indicate sample formalin plastic bag at 50oC has an average value of the highest levels of 6.2467 ppm, while the average value of the levels of formaldehyde at a temperature of 60°C is 5.5738 ppm and the average value of the lowest levels at 80oC is 5.4589 ppm.
