Abstract
The body mass index is a simple tool to monitor the nutritional status of adults. Abdominal circumference as an indicator of abdominal obesity has a strong relationship and be a good indicator for changes in triglycerides. Triglycerides are the major lipid storage in adipose tissue. The aim of research to determine the correlation between BMI and abdominal circumference of the levels of triglycerides in Setia Budi Surakarta University students. Research using this type of comparative analytic study is cross-sectional, conducted on April 7 to April 8, 2016 using 32 samples at the University of Setia Budi Surakarta and checks in PK dr. Moewardi Surakarta. Data were analyzed using SahapiroWilk test and Spearman statistically significant when p (<0.05) with 95% confidence intervals. The results of the analysis show mean ± standard deviation (SD) triglyceride levels are 99.31±6.401 mg/dl, the mean ± SD BMI is 22.17337 ± 3.615299 kg/m2, and the mean±SD abdominal circumference is 74.72±10.638 cm. The results of the analysis of the correlation coefficient BMI and triglyceride levels by 0081 and p = 0.659, abdominal circumference and triglyceride levels of 0.155 and p = 0396. Based on the results of this study concluded that there is a negative correlation, low and not significant between BMI and triglyceride levels, and there is a negative correlation, low and not significant between abdominal circumference and triglyceride levels.
