Abstract
Annona muricata L. is one of the plants that has been traditionaly used an antidiabetic treatment. Annona muricata L. leaf contain flavonoid that can inhibited the glucose transporter activity from the intestine thus decreasing blood glucose concentration. The aim of this study was determine the effects and effective dose of ethanol extract of Annona muricata L. leaf to the decrease in blood glucose levels. The research used alloxan induction method. The test animals were divided into 5 groups, each group consisting of 5 mice. The Group I was negative control of 0.5% CMC, Group II was positive control of glibenclamide, Group III was ethanol extract Annona muricata L. leaf of 2.8 mg/20 g BW of mice, Group IV was ethanol extract of Annona muricata L. leaf of 4.2 mg/20 g BW mice, Group V is ethanol extract of Annona muricata L. leaf of 5.6 mg/20 g BW mice. The administration of the test solution was performed for 14 days after alloxan induction and measured on the day of 7th and 14th. Data were analyzed with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov followed by one-way ANOVA and post hoc test. The results showed that ethanol extract of Annona muricata L. leaf contain flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin and tannin are thought to have antidiabetic activity. At doses of 4.2 mg/20 g BW of mice was the most effective in lowering blood glucose levels, the different effect blood glucose lowering is at each dose probably was influenced by the amount of different compound in each dose administration.
