Abstract
Strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) contains antioxidant compound such as rutin, quersetin, and vitamin C. Strawberry extract was formulated in peel-off mask dosage form for simple application on skin face. The aims of this study is determining the optimum combination of PVA and CMC-Na as base with SLD and determining IC50 value between strawberry extract and optimum formula. Strawberry extract had obtained with maceration method using etanol as solvent then concentrated becomes extract. Peel-off mask formulation prepared with combination of PVA and CMC-Na in concentration F1 (1:5), F2 (5:1), F3 (3:3). Evaluation of characteristic includes viscosity, spread capacity, dosage form dry time, and pH during 4 weeks. Optimization by Simplex Lattice Design with Design Expert 8.0.6.1. using characteristic parameters: viscosity, transfer viscosity, spread capacity, and dosage form dry time. The optimum formula shows that desirability value 0,429 with composition of PVA 4,498% and CMCNa 1,502%. Evaluation of antioxidant activity in extract and optimum formula with Diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method and rutin as standard of comparison. IC50 value of strawberry extract is 1009,252 μg/ml and IC50 value of strawberry extract peel-off mask optimum formula is 1981,527 μg/ml.
