Abstract

NOVIA FITTA’KUL JANNAH, 2023, PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREENING AND THIN-LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY PROFILE OF THE ETHANOL EXTRACT OF MANJAKANI FRUIT (Quercus Infectoria), SCIENTIFICPAPER, D-III PHARMACY STUDY PROGRAM, FACULTY OF PHARMACY, SETIA BUDI UNIVERSITY. Supervised by Ghani Nurfiana F.S, M. Farm., Apt Manjakani fruit has advantages for preserving the health of female sex organs as well as for wound healing, anti-diabetic, antibacterial, anti- inflammatory, and antiviral purposes. The purpose of this study is to employ thin layer chromatography (TLC) and phytochemical screening to discover the secondary metabolites found in manjakani fruit. The maceration method, which uses 96% ethanol as the extraction solvent, was utilized in this study. Phytochemical screening was carried out as a preliminary test to identify the content of secondary metabolites contained in manjakani fruit extract. The thin layer chromatography (TLC) method was employed to conduct an analysis of the compound class of the manjakani fruit (Qurecus infectoria) in order to validate the outcomes of the reaction. According to the findings of the research, the manjakani fruit (Quercus infectoria) contains identifying components including epidermis, parenchyma, calcium oxalate, covering hairs, and starch. The findings of phytochemical screening and thin layer chromatography (TLC) of manjakani fruit extract revealed the presence of secondary metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and interquinones
