Abstract

Catfish is a food that is widely consumed by the community because it has a high protein content and has an affordable price. Catfish habit that can live in polluted and dirty waters is a problem that needs to be considered so that it is necessary to test the existence of heavy metal contamination Pb (Lead). Catfish samples were taken randomly in 3 Surakarta Traditional Markets with sample code of Market A, Market B and Market C. Determination of Pb metal content by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (SSA) method. The results of research on catfish contain heavy metal Pb. The concentration of Pb heavy metal in catfish samples from market A, B and C was 0.2635 mg / kg, respectively; 0.2426 mg / kg and 0.2518 mg / kg. The heavy metal content of catfish is still below the maximum threshold based on the quality requirement issued by Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan Republik Indonesia which is 0.3 mg / kg.
