Abstract

The main components of rhizome bangle-4-ol terpinen and sabinen have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. Based on the antibacterial activity of essential oil rhizome bangle made spray gel preparations are easy to use and comfortable to use on skin infections. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of essential oil spray gel of bangle rhizome which is efficacious as antibacterial to Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 in vivo. Essential oil of bangle rhizome obtained by water vapor distillation method, and manufacture of spray gel with concentration 1.56%; 3.125%; 6.25%, then tested the physical quality and gel stability. Test of antibacterial activity of spray gel of essential oil of rhizome bangle seen by observing the duration of healing infection marked by dryness of wound, loss of pus and decreasing number of colony of bacterium Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The data obtained is processed by spss method two lane. Essential oil bangle rhizome can be made spray gel preparations with good physical quality and good stability at a concentration of 1.56%. The antibacterial activity test of spray gel of essential oil of bangle rhizome with various concentrations has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 infected on rabbit. Based on the kolmogrov significance test of 0.083> 0.05 spray gel essential oil rhizome bangle concentration of 6.25% has the most optimal healing effect against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 bacteria infected in rabbits.
