Abstract
Pare contains a chemical compound of tannins, saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids. The content has activity as an antibacterial. This research was conducted to find out antibacterial activity of pare extract to Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 bacteria, MIC value, and MBC value. The powder of bitter melon fruit was extracted by maceration method using 70% ethanol. The test by diffusion method which was used to know the effectiveness of extract with 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25% concentration. Then, dillusion method was tested to determine the value of MBC (Minimum Kill Concentration) with series concentration 100%; 50%; 25%; 12.5%; 6.25%; 3.12%; 1.56%; 0.79%; 0.39%; and 0.19%. The result of the diffusion test were analyzed by ANOVA with SPSS 17. The result of diffusion test extract ethanol of bitter melon fruit had antibacterial activity to Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853. In the diffusion test, the effectiveness concentration was 75%. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) can’t be determined. Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) was concentration of 50%.
