Abstract

Women of childbearing age are susceptible to iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is a decrease in the number of red blood cells and hemoglobin caused by low iron intake. Anemia prevention efforts in women of childbearing age are done by supplementation of tablets plus blood. One iron tablet in Indonesia contains 60 mg Fe substance and 0.25 mg folic acid or equivalent to 200 mg ferrosulfate. The study aims to examine differences before and after iron tablets (Fe) to female students in the Department of Health Analyst DIV Setia Budi Surakarta. The type of research used is experimental research with pre experimental research design that is Static group comparison. Number of respondents 30 people who meet inclusion criteria. The analysis was performed with Paired Sample T-Test to see the difference of hemoglobin levels before and after iron tablet (Fe). The time of the research was carried out in March until May 2018. The result obtained is an increase of Hb level of 0,554 g/dL that is average before consuming iron tablet 12,054 g / dL and after consuming iron tablet (Fe) 12,608 g/dL. From the results of the study concluded that the results of Hb concentrations before and after consuming Fe tablets there are significant differences (0.035 < 0.05).
