Abstract
Hypertension is a disease with multifactors and risk factors such as age, sex, attitude, physical activities, high content of cholesterol, diabetes mellitus (DM), high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, and triglycerides. Leukocytes play important role in cellular and humoral defense on the response of inflammatory cells in blood vessels, and are able to respond on long-term cardiovascular risk factors, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and the increase of endothelial cells inflammatory markers. The research aims at finding out the correlation between leukocyte count and serum triglyceride levels in hypertension patients This research applied observational analytical research design with crosssectional approach. The subjects of the research were 30 samples. The data were analyzed using Kolmogorov-Smirnov test with the value of p>0.05 data analysis using Pearson correlation with the value of p<0.05. The results show the value of r = -0,075 and p = 0,693 (p>0,05). It concludes that there is no value correlation found between leukocyte count and serum triglyceride levels in hypertension patients. Further research is required to find out the correlation between leukocyte count and serum triglyceride levels in hypertension patients and the correlation between leukocytes count and another variables including another lipid profiles, such as total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, or other inflammatory markers.
