Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the role of motivation in mediating the compensation and work environment on the performance in the Dr. Moewardi Hospital. The data were obtained using a questionnaire distributed non medical employees with respondents as many as 200 people. 1-5 Likert scale questionnaire used as an instrument to obtain data. Sampling method using two stages cluster sampling. Hypothesis testing in this study was analyzed with multilevel linear regression. The results showed that there are two stages of multilevel regression in stage 1 of motivation no significant effect (p = 0.855) on the performance, but compesation significant effect on the performance and compesation have a significant effect on motivation. In the second stage the work environment have a significant effect on performance and work environment significant effect on motivation, but motivation does not mediate the relationship between the work environment and performance.
