Abstract

Gratus sea is one of Indonesian marine product that contain unsaturated fatty acid potentially decrease total cholesterol level in mouse blood. This study was aimed to determine activity and effective dose of granule preparation of gratus sea to decrease in total cholesterol level of white male mice wistar strain. The method used was wet granulation through processing steamed, sunlight and roaster. This study used 30 consisting of 6 groups. Group I normal control, group II simvastatin 0.18 mg/200 g BW positive control, Group III negative control. Group IV, V, VI were group with administration of high-fat diet and granule at dose 273 mg/200 g BW, 546 mg/200 g BW, 819 mg/200 g BW. Measurement of total cholesterol level was done on days 0, 14 and 21. Data analyzed statistically by One-way ANOVA test. The results showed that activity of gratus sea granule with dose of 273 mg/200 g BW, 546 mg/200 g BW, 819 mg/200 g BW affected on decreasing total cholesterol of white male mice wistar strain. Sea gratus granule dose 819 mg/200 g BW had the most effective activity to decrease total cholesterol level. Keywords: Gratus sea (Emerita emeritus), granule, total cholesterol, high-fat diet
