Abstract
Nowadays, hypertension still becomes the number one diasease in Indonesia. Hypertensions can be affected or cured with improved urine secretion (diuretic). Allium cepa L bulb has many benefits to health. One of them is diuretic activity. This research is aimed to know diuretic effect and effective dose of Allium cepa L bulb extract tuber white male rat of wistar strain. This research was conducted using soxhlet extraction, in which the simplicia powder was put onto soxhlet and was dissolved by ethanol 70% then heated until the solvent has no color. Liquid extract was put into rotary evaporator umtil the extract thickened. The extract of Allium cepa L bulb tested in white male rats of wistar strain consists of three doses : 10 mg/kg bb, 20 mg/kg bb, 40 mg/kg bb with the control group was control negative (CMC 0,5%) and (furosemide 0,07%). The data of onset observation result and urin volume obtained in 1 hour for 6 hours and the 24th hour were analyzed by one way ANOVA and LSD with confidence levels of 95%. The result of research showed that exctact of Allium cepa L bulb have diuretic activity tuber white male rat of wistar strain. The doses of extract Allium cepa L bulb that have diuretic activity were 20 mg/kg bb and 40 mg/kg bb. The effective dose of Allium cepa L bulb extract was 40 mg/kg bb.
