Abstract

Pegagan (Centella asiatica L. Urb) has an antioxidant benefits. The study was aimed to determine whether the extract of pegagan (Centela asiatica L. Urb) could be made cream preparations and to know the effect of extract of pegagan (Centela asiatica L. Urb) that was made cream preparations with base variations of cera alba and propylene glycol on the physical quality test cream. The extract of pegagan (Centela asiatica L. Urb) was made cream preparations with base variations of cera alba and propylene glycol. The formula was tested for its physical quality and stability. Physical quality testing including organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, dispersive and adhesiveness. The cream stability test was observed for one month. Data were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by Post Hoc test at 95% confidence. The results showed that the extract of pegagan (Centella asiatica L. Urb) with bases variety of cera alba and propylene glycol obtained the more viscous cream the greater of viscosity in formula 1, smaller dispersive power in formula 1 and the longer the adhesion power in formula 3.
