Abstract
Antacid is a compound with the ability of neutralizing gastric acid or binding it. Aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide in this research was made into chewed tablet preparation in order to be consumed easily by the children. This research aimed to find out the effect of varying concentrations of PVP K-30 on the physical quality of antacid chewed tablet. This research was conducted by preparing 3 formulas with varying concentrations of PVP K-30 for formula 1 (4%), formula II (5%), formula III (6%). Then, releasing time, drying shrinkage, stationary angle, weight uniformity, tablet hardness, tablet smash time, and taste responsiveness were tested. The statistic analysis was conducted using a one-way Anova method at confidence interval of 95% using SPSS 17 program. The result of research showed that the higher the concentration of PVP K-30, the higher was the hardness, the lower was the brittleness, and the longer was the smashing time of antacid chewed tablet. Keywords: Antacid, Chewed Tablet, PVP K-30, Wet Granulation.
