Abstract
Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease that attack the joints. The use of herbal medicines that have an anti-inflammatory effect is expected to prevent and treat arthritis disease. One of plants with anti-inflammatory effect is pumpkin seeds. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity antiartritis of granting seed extract pumpkin on white male rats induced by complete Freund's adjuvant, to determine the effective dose for antiartritis profile and histopathology joints of the feet of mice were given a dose of the effective of seeds pumpkin. This study used 5 groups of rice and induced complete Freund's adjuvant on the plantar foot, each group consisted of 5 mice and sequentially administered treatment that is 0.5% CMC-Na, pumpkin seed extract of 30 mg/200 g BB, pumpkin seed extract of 60 mg/200 g BB, pumpkin seed extract of 120 mg/200 g BB, and triamcinolone 0.216 mg/200 g BB. Test material was administered orally, and edema volume measured using plethysmometer. The results showed that the pumpkin seed extract 30 mg/200 g BB: 60 mg/200 g and 120 mg/200 g BB BB has antiartritis activity. The effective dose of pumpkin seed extract is 60 mg/200 g and 120 mg/200 g BB BB.Triamcinolone and pumpkin seed extract of 120 mg/200 g BB repaired histopathological profile of ankle joints through could joint space distance and the absence of infiltration. Based on statistical analysis, there were no significant differences between groups of pumpkin seed extract of 60 mg/200 g and 120 mg/200 g BB with triamcinolone group. Thus, pumpkin seed extract had effect to antiartritis comparable to triamcinolone. Keywords: pumpkin seed extract, complete Freund's adjuvant, antiartritis, triamcinolone.
