Abstract

Skin very susceptible infected by Staphylococcus aureus which will cause inflammation. Snail (Achatina fulica) can be used as inflammation alternative. Berniyanti (2007) reported result of snail mucous isolation was Achasin protein, active asantibacterial. Snail mucous content which the most affect to healing burns were heparin sulphate and calcium. The use of mucous directly less effectivebecauseit smells fishy, so made gel preparation. This study aimed to determine the best concentration of snail mucous In gel to healing of burns. Snail mucous gel was made in three concentration formulas 6%, 9% and 12%. Physical properties was tested organoleptic, homogenity, dispersion, viscosity, and adhesion. Activity of burns healing was conducted at back of Rabbit New Zealand strain. Burns healing measurement results were analyzed statistically using variance analysis to know there was difference on 1stday and 21thday. Provision of snail mucous gel at concentration 6%, 9%, 12% gave effect to burns healing. Result of statistical analysis using variance analysis showed that preparation of snail mucous gel in concentration 12% shows effect of burns healing that was not significantly different from positive control. Increasing concentration of snail mucous gel showed increase of burns healing effect. Keywords: snail mucous gel (Achatina fulica Ferr), gel, burns, rabbit
