Abstract
Red dragon fruit peels (Hylocereus undatus (Haw.) Britt. & Rose) is waste that contains flavonoid and phenols, as an antioxidant. The study was aimed to know the effect of physical properties and antioxidant activity in formulation HPMC and glycerin. Red dragon fruit peels extracts was obtained by maceration with ethanol 70%. Then the extracts were made as much 6 formulation gel peel-off mask with combination of HPMC and glycerin base, i.e. : 1%:2%; 1%:5%; 1%:10%; 2%:2%; 2%:5%; 2%:10%. Evaluation based on day 2 and day 21 toward physical properties and antioxidant activity includes organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, dispersive power, drying time, pH and antioxidant activity was tested by DPPH method. The data were analyzed SPSS Statistic version 17.0 with one way Anova and Independent T-Test. The results showed red dragon fruit peel could be made gel peel-off masks and the greater base of HPMC and glycerin combination was used, resulted in high viscosity, low dispersive power, more acidic pH, longer time to dry out and lower antioxidant activity.
