Abstract
Well water is human’s life source which is prone to be polluted by the household waste and can produce metallic pollution in the form of Pb, Fe, Cd dan Zn. Zink (Zn) which are heavy metals causing health problems such as fever, diarrhoea, nausea, anaemia, and reproduction problems if those are excessively consumed from the set maximum limit. According to PERMENKES, the allowed threshold amount of Zink incoming to the human body is 3 mg/L. The aim of this research is to determine whether the amount of Zink (Zn) metal content in the well water around the landfills fulfils the requirements of PERMENKES/2010. Research carried out using atomic absorption spectrophotometry method, where the sample should be made wet destruction in order for metals in the sample are separated and retrieved the metal in the form of free atoms. With the destruction of concentrated HNO3 results then add 5 mL of aquabides. The sample solution was later read at a wavelength of 213, 9nm. The identification result shows that all samples among the 3 well water samples around the landfills in Piyungan, Yogyakarta, contain Zink (Zn). The amount of Zink (Zn) in the well around the landfills is 0.0071 mg/L (Well A); 0.0300 mg/L (Well B); and 0.0143 mg/L (Well C). The maximum Zink (Zn) that can be consumed by the people each day according to PERMENKES/VI/2010 is 3 mg/L. Keywords: Zink (Zn), Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry, Well Water, Landfills
