Abstract
Salbutamol is an effective asthmatic drug to prevent or to remove asthma attack. Salbutamol was made in tablet preparation cause to facilitate the society in using it. To support tablet preparation, binder and disintegration are required. Binder and disintegration materials used in this study was Polyvinyl pirolidone and Explotab. The preparation of salbutamol tablet was made with polyvinyl pirolidone and explotab combination with the following ratios: formula I (3% polyvinyl pirolidone : 5% explotab), formula II (4% polyvibyl pirolidone : 4% explotab), formula III (5% polyvinyl pirolidone : 3% explotab), and then it was tested for its granule flowing time, LOD, weight uniformity, friabilation, hardness, and disintegration time. The statistic analysis was conducted one-way Anova at level of 95% confidence using SPSS 17 program. The result of the study showed that salbutamol could be made tablet preparation using polyvinyl pirolidone as binder and explotab as disintegration. From the disintegration time test, it could be seen that formula I provided the best result compared with formulas II and III.
