Abstract

Rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) flower is beneficial to be antibacterial and anti virus agent, to cure toxicity, minimize the influence of the outside temperature, and to inhibit the microbe action. The extract of rosella flower is assumed to be made ointment preparation. The rosella flower extract was made in various concentrations so that a high-quality ointment was produced. The preparation of rosella flower extract ointment was conducted using ointment preparation method with M/A type. The rosella flower extract ointment in this study employed a variety of different concentrations: formula 1 (5%), formula 2 (7.5%) and formula 3 (10%). The obtimed ointment was tested for its organoleptic, homogenety, distribution, adhesiveness, viscosity, and pH. Then the data was analyzed statistically using one-way Anova with SNK test at 95% confidence. The result of the study showed that rosella flower could be made ointment preparation meeting the stability test and physical quality of ointment preparation. _________________________________________________________________ Keywords: Ointment, rosella flower, extract concentration, M/A type ointment.
