Abstract

Calcone is carbonyl catone non saturated α,β compound which has electrofilic enon cluster. Enon cluster is in charge in anti bacteria, anti tumor, anti fungi and anti inflamation activities and also as an antioxidant. It is needed to find the synthetic as calcone is difficult to obtain in this nature. The purpose of this research is to synthesize one of the calcone analogs, 3-(2-furanyl)-1-(4 methylfenyl) prop-2-en-1-on through a Schmidt Claissen condensation from the initial material of P-methylasetofenon with furfural. Synthetic compound 3-(2-furanile)-1-(4methylfenyl) prop -2-en-1-on used the initial material of P-methylasetofenone and furfural with KOH catalyst in the 95% etanol solvent for three hours distirer in the room temperature (28 -29 degree celcius). And then 50 ml cold aquadest (10 degree celcius) is added and then kept in the refrigerator (10 degree celcius) for 30 minutes until it reaches neutral (pH 7) the synthetic result of compound purity using thin layer of chromatography, gas chromatography and dissolved range test. Elucidation structure of the compound using UV, IR and mass spectrophotometer. The research of synthetic compound 3-(2- furanyl)-1-(4-methylfenil) prop2-en-1-on is successfully done. The synthetic method using KOH catalyst produces 3- (2-furanyl-1-(4methylfenyl) prop-2-en-1-on compound with 75,57% rendement, 51,44% recovery, 87,35% abundance. And the identification result of chemical structure is same as the prediction. Keyword : synthetic, calcone analog, KOH
