Abstract

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmanni Nees ex Bl.) is a plants that produce essential oils with main content of sinamaldehid. Essential oil can be used as a antiinflammatory. Essential oil of cinnamon bark isolated by steam-water method. Inflammation is a normal protective Inflammation is a normal protective response to tissue injury caused by physical trauma, damaging chemicals or microbiological substances. The purpose of study was to determine the effect of essential oil and effect of various doses of cinnamon bark to white male rats. The examination of anti inflammation effect was done to five groups of rats. Every group gave karagean induction. Every groups gave the different treatment, the first group gave CMC 1% , the second group gave 0.05 ml of essential oil, the thrid group gave 0.1 ml of essential oils, the fourth group gave 0.2 ml, the fifth group gave Na-diclofenac. Then measured the volume of edema for 5hours, calculate the AUC and % antiinflammatory. Result % antiinflammatory power was analyzed by Oneway ANOVA and Tukey HSD test. The results showed that the group treated with various doses of essential oils did not give significant anti-inflammatory effect (sig> 0.05), the greater the dose of essential oil anti-inflammatory effect was not greater.
