Abstract
Seligi (Phyllanthus buxifolius (BI.) M.A.) leaves contain a chemichal compound flavonoid, polifenol and saponin that have activity as antioxidant and thought to pontentially as antihiperlipidemic. This research to find out the effect of seligi (Phyllanthus buxifolius (BI.) M.A) leaf ethanol extract on the increased HDL level and the decreased LDL level in white mice (Rattus norvegicus). The subject of research was 30 male white mice in 150-200 gram body weight and 2-3 months age. All mice were divided into 6 groups randomly then given BR II and water everyday. Each groups consisted of 5 mice. Group I was the one without treatment. Group II was the positive control (simvastatin). Group III was the negative control. Each group treatment of extract was added with seligi leaf extract in doses of 75mg/kg bw/day; 150mg/kg bw/day and 300mg/kg bw/day. The tested animal was given cow fat and yolk in the day-0 for two weeks up to hypercholesterolemia state, day-14 was given tested preparation until the day-28. The HDL and LDL levels were measured on the day-0, -14, and -28 with CHOD-PAP method. The result of research showed that the seligi leaf ethanol extract given orally could increase the HDL and decrease the LDL levels of mice blood serum. Seligi leaf ethanol extract with dose 300 mg/kg bw/day had equal effective to simvastatin. Keywords: Seligi leaf (Phyllanthus buxifolius (BI.) M.A.), ethanol extract, HDL, LDL, mice
