Abstract

Self-confidence in health information is define as one’s believe in him or herself about future information search activities guided by pre-existing perceptions of the information sources such as trust in the information sources. The aims of this study is to examine and analyzing the factor of self-confidence to determine the outcome improvement of knowledge in gastritis prevention; to examine and analyzing the factor of self-confidence to determine healthcare behavior which can lead to the prevention of gastritis; and the last goal of this study is to examine and analyzing the factor of self-confidence to determine the outcome improvement of use of the web for obtaining information about gastritis. The design of this study based on non experimental study using cross sectional as observation approach model to the patients at RSUD Dr. Moewardi Surakarta Hospital. The data collected using questionnaires that distributed to respondend then analyze using descriptive associative method to examine the relationships between self-confidence and knowledge about gastritis prevention, healthcare behavior, use of the web for information in gastritis. The results from this study revealed that self-confidence determine and influence significantly on knowledge about gastritis prevention, healthcare behavior, and use of the web for information in gastritis. Another variable such as age and gender has significant influence on knowledge about gastritis prevention. Family history in gastritis has significant influence on respondend healthcare behavior. The use of the web for information in gastritis not significantly influence by age, gender, education, household income, and the history of gastritis among respondend.
