Abstract

Hemoglobin is the main component of red blood cells or erythrocytes consisting of heme and globin, a conjugated protein that functions to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide. An examination of Hemoglobin levels can use the Compolab tool as Point Of Care Testing(POCT) and Hematology Analyzer. The aim of the study was to determine the differences in hemoglobin examination results using the POCT photometric and Hematology Analyzer for donors in the PMI Blood Transfusion Unit in Surakarta city. The study was cross sectional analytic observation, carried out on 78 samples using the POCT photometric tool and the Hematology Analyzer in the PMI Blood Transfusion Unit in Surakarta city in Surakarta from March to May 2019, using the Independent Sample T-Test difference test with a significance of 0,05 and a confidence interval (IK) 95%. The results of this study there were no significant differences (p = 0,470) on Hemoglobine examination results using the Compolab tool( capillary blood) and Hematology Analyzer (venous blood). Compolab can be used as an initial scerning tool for Hemoglobin examination, it needs further research with other methods and sample types.
