Abstract
Examination of ureua and creatinine is a clinical chemistry examination for screening for all hospitalized patients ≥ 40 years old at Rumah Sakit Jiwa Daerah Surakarta (The Surakarta Regional Mental Hospital). Sometimes the difficulty in taking blood samples that should be using 2 vacutainer tubes, finally the blood taken is only one tube, namely the EDTA tube. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there were differences in the results of examination of urea and creatinine levels using serum and plasma EDTA. This research is Cross Sectional with purposive sampling technique, conducted at Rumah Sakit Jiwa Daerah Surakarta in April 2019 with a sample of 40 people. Urea levels were measured using the UV Enzymatic method and creatinine levels were measured using the Jaffe Reaction method. Perform normality test with Wilk Saphiro test, followed by Wilcoxon test, with a p value <0.05, 95% confidence level. The results showed that there were no differences in serum urea levels in serum and EDTA plasma (P = 0.577), there were no differences in creatinine levels in serum and plasma EDTA (P = 0.850).
