Abstract
Cholesterol Checking in Laboratory occasionally delayed, sample used are serum and plasma. Serum and plasma are separated maximum within 2 hours for long hour separation causes hemoconcentration and cell leakage. The present study aimed to determine the differences of cholesterol levels of fresh serum, EDTA plasma unseparated for 1 hour and 3 hours. The research applied cross sectional technique and the total samples used were 30. The research was conducted in Banyuanyar Health Center in May 2019. Method applied was CHOD PAP. The data were normality tested using Saphiro Wilk test and the data analysis applied Paired sampel t-test. The result of t test indicated that there was a difference of cholesterol levels of fresh serum and EDTA plasma unseparated for 1 hour p = 0.015 (p < 0.05), there was a difference of cholesterol level of EDTA plasma unseparated for 1 hour and 3 hour p = 0.001 (p < 0.05), and there was no difference of cholesterol level between fresh serum and EDTA plasma unseparated for 3 hours p = 0.323 (p > 0.05).
