Abstract
Toxoplasmosis is a zoonotic contagious disease that transmitted from animals to humans. The cause is Toxoplasma gondii which is a parasitic group of protozoa that can infect all types of warm-blooded animals, including humans. Lettuce and basil vegetables have a height 20-6- cm above ground level, so that parasites can stick to vegetables. Parasites attached to lettuce and basil leaves if the vegetables are not washed clean. The habit of eating raw vegetables which is not well washed is one of the risk factors for toxoplasmosis. The Toxoplasma gondii phase which can contaminate vegetables through the soil is the oocyst phase. The purpose of this study was to figure whether there was a relation between personal hygiene and the percentage of Toxoplasma gondii Oocyst in lettuce and basil street vendors in Nusukan Village This study uses the sedimentation method. The sample immersed in 0.2% NaOH, then centrifuges at a speed of 1500 rpm for 15 minutes. The top solution discard and then take 1 drop of the bottom and put on the glass object and cover the glass deck. Check under the microscope with 100x, 400x, The results of the study were not found Toxoplasma gondii oocyst in vegetables and basil. It concluded that there is no relationship between personal hygiene and the percentage of Toxoplasma gondii oocyst in lettuce and basil street vendors in Nusukan Village.
