Abstract
The liquid waste of the tofu industry can be a source of environmental pollution, one way to reduce pollution parameters by using natural coagulants to Moringa seed powder and tamarind seeds.This study aims to determine the effect and optimum concentration of Moringa seeds and tamarind seeds powder on the characteristics of tofu industry wastewater in terms of the levels of BOD, COD, TSS. This research was carried out by adding coagulant from Moringa seed (K) powder and tamarind seeds (A) with various concentrations (K: A 0: 1; 1: 0; 1: 1; 1: 2 2: 1) then the coagulation process is carried out on the wastewater of the tofu industry. In this study BOD analysis used the Iodometry method, the COD Spectrophotometry method, and the Thermogravimetric TSS method. The results showed that the combination of moringa seed powder and tamarind seeds influenced the characteristics of tofu industry wastewater.The optimal concentration in reducing levels of BOD, COD, and TSS is K: A 2:1 (moringa seed powder 5 g and tamarind seed powder 2.5 g), namely BOD levels increased by 75%, COD levels of 43.86, levels TSS of 65.55%.The characteristics of tofu industrial wastewater that meets the quality standards of tofu industrial waste based on the Regional Decree of Central Java Province Number 5 of 2012 are TSS.
