Abstract
Lip cream is a lipstick preparation in the form of a cream which is containing wax and relatively more oily than lip's color in the form of a stick. Secang wood (Caesalpinia sappan L.) is used as a natural coloring lip cream because it's contains brazilin compounds which can give a yellow-red color. This study aims to determine the physical quality and stability, safety level, and level of preference for the preparation of lip cream. This lip cream preparations using a variety of extract dyes: 4%, 6%, and 8%. Lip cream preparations are tested; physical quality both before and after the stability test, then the results are statistically analyzed, an irritation test by using patch test, then the irritation score was calculated, and the hedonic test is done by filling out the questionnaire, then the results are processed statistically. The results showed that the lip cream preparation was not stable against storage, the preparation is non irritating, and the most favorite in iterms of color and texture parameters is formula 2 with a concentration of secang wood’s extract 4%.
