Abstract
Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a serious and often recurrent mental disorder. The effectiveness of medication will be different in an individual and another. Psychiatrist usually gives antidepressant drug to balance the patient’s cerebral chemicals so that the rational medication is highly recommended to the patients to avoid adverse effect that can exacerbate the patient’s condition. The objective of research was to find out the compatibility of antidepressant drug use in major depressive patients in inpatient unit of Surakarta Local Mental Hospital in 2016 to the Hospital Formulary and Practice Guideline For The Treatment of Patients With Major Depressive Disorder, 3th ed. American Psychiatric Association 2010. This study was a non-experimental descriptive research. Data collection was carried out retrospectively from medical record in 2016. The data was analyzed descriptively to find out the compatibility of antidepressant drug prescription in major depressive patients based on the Hospital Formulary and Practice Guideline For The Treatment of Patients With Major Depressive Disorder, 3th ed. American Psychiatric Association 2010. The result of research showed that antidepressant drug use included 42% SSRI, 35% tricyclic antidepressant class and 23% tetracyclic depressant class of drug. The compatibility of antidepressant to Hospital Formulary of 2016 was 94.2% and that to Practice Guideline For The Treatment of Patients With Major Depressive Disorder, 3th ed.
