Abstract
Fisetin is a natural polyphenol that is abundant in nature and has the potential as a natural antioxidant (Chen et al. 2014). Its solubility is low in water, so its use as a drug active compound is very little. Fisetin solubility can be improved by the technology of Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLN). This study aims to determine the stability of SLN fisetin and prove the antioxidant activity found in SLN fisetin with DPPH test, determine the effect of concentration on SLN fisetin characterization, and find out the best formula that will be formed from the system. SLN fisetin is made using solid lipids of cetyl alcohol with a concentration of 0.15%; 0.25%; and 0.15%. The method used is in the form of emulsification and sonication. The formulas that have been made are then characterized by looking at particle size, adsorption efficiency, zeta potential, and DPPH test. The results showed that fisetin made by the SLN formula had less stable results seen from the zeta potential value of the three formulas, but had very strong antioxidant activity because it had an IC50 value of 12.14 ppm. The cetyl alcohol concentration influences particle size and adsorption efficiency. The results of particle size with good uniformity are produced in formulas with a concentration of 0.25%, then the best adsorption efficiency is produced in a formula with a concentration of 0.5%.
