Abstract

Green cincau leaves (Cyclea barbata miers) can be empirically used as a urine laxative (diuretic). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ethanol extract of green cincau leaves (Cyclea barbata Miers) on the levels of Na+ and K+ in urine and find out the effective dosage that has the effect of reducing Na+ and K+ levels in urine measured by AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry). In this study using the method of wet destruction. Making Na+ standard solution with concentrations of 0.1 ppm, 0.2 ppm, 0.4 ppm, 0.6 ppm, 0.8 ppm, 1 ppm, 3 ppm, 5 ppm and K+ with a concentration of 0.5 ppm, 1 ppm , 2 ppm, 3 ppm, 5 ppm, 10 ppm, 15 ppm and 20 ppm. Urinary destruction for 24 hours in each treatment group. Dilution of the destruction results of each urine sample as much as 5000x, and determined the levels of sodium and potassium electrolytes in the urine using AAS. The research results of cincau leaf ethanol extract have diuretic activity, the dose of 240 mg/kg BB is an effective dose that provides diuretic activity by increasing urine volume so as to influence the levels of sodium and potassium in the body, and has the effect of reducing sodium and potassium levels in white rats male.
