Abstract
Tonicum is an ingredient to add or increase body stamina quickly so that the body returns to fit. The kencur rhizome contains flavonoids, alkaloids and essential oils. This study aims to determine the extract and fraction of the kencur rhizome having tonic activity in male white mice and to determine the fraction of the kencur rhizome which has the strongest tonic activity. The powder as macerated with 70 % ethanol, then fractionated using nhexane, ethyl acetate and water. Tonicum activity test using Natatory Exhaustion method using 30 mice. Negative control of distilled water volume 0f 0,5 ml (I), positive control of caffeine 100 mg//Kg body weight (II), extract 105,05 mg/Kg body weight (III), n-hexane fraction 2,63 mg /Kg body weight (IV), ethyl acetate fraction 21,01 mg/Kg body weight (V), water fraction 32,83 mg /Kg body weight (VI). Tonicum effect data obtained from the difference in time before administration (T0) and after administration (T1) were analyzed statistically using One-Way ANOVA. The kencur rhizome extract (Kaempferia galanga L.) dose 105,05 mg/Kg body weight, n-hexane fraction dose 2,63 mg/Kg body weight, ethyl acetate fraction dose 21,01 mg/Kg body weight and dose water fraction 32,83 mg/Kg body weight has tonic activity and ethyl acetate fraction has the strongest tonic activity. The average fatigue time of the ethyl acetate fraction group is 2.40 minutes or 90.61%, the highest compared to other fraction treatment groups.
