Abstract
Sun exposure can trigger the formation of free radicals and form oxidative stress, this is due to the Ultra violet (UV) rays found in sunlight. Cinnamon Bark (Cinnamomum burmanni B.) Contains compounds that have activity as a very strong antioxidant that is sinamaldehyde. Formulation of cream preparations are made to facilitate the application of topical preparations in protecting the skin. The study aims to determine the cinnamon extract can be formulated into a cream and to find out effectiveness of anti-aging the palm foot of rat that is exposed by UV-B light. The test used 25 rats. Palm foot rat cream smeared cream test with concentrations of 2%,4% and 8%, extracts, negative control and positive control were then given exposure with UV-B lamps for 13 minutes a day during 10 days. Observation wrinkle with score and continued with histopathology. Cream physical properties were tested by organoleptic, pH, viscosity, adhesion, dispersion, protection, and cycling test. The result were statistically analyzed using one way anova. The results showed that concentration 2%, 4% dan 8% of Cinnamon extract cream formula has good physical quality and has effectiveness in preventing the occurrence of wrinkles. The cream with concentration 8 % showed the best effect in preventing wrinkles on the foot of rat that is exposed by UV-B light was almost equivalent to positive control.
