Abstract

The social support of the family is one of the factors that affect the psychological well-being of a person. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family social support and psychological well-being in people with disabilities at the Balai Besar Rehabilitasi Sosial Bina Daksa Prof. Dr. Soeharso Surakarta. The subjects of this study were students benefiting from the BBRSBD Prof. Dr. Soeharso Surakarta with a total of 38 people. This study uses two measuring instruments, namely the psychological well-being scale and the family social support scale. The hypothesis proposed is that there is a positive relationship between family social support and psychological well-being. This study uses quantitative methods and sampling is done by a reasoned sampling technique. The method used for data analysis is the product moment correlation of Karl Pearson using SPSS 21.0 for the Windows version. The analysis shows that the correlation coefficient is rxy = 0.701 with p = 0.000 (p <0.01). This proves that there is a significant positive relationship between family social support and psychological well-being, so the hypothesis proposed in this study is accepted.
