Abstract

High and fluctuating cases of dengue fever every year indicate that the vector control program (Aedes aegypti) based on chemical insecticides is not optimal. Another alternative that can be used is using insecticides from plants. One of the plants that has the potential as larvacide is white guava leaves (Psidium guajava, L). The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of white guava leaf extract (Psidium guajava, L) as Aedes aegypti larvacide and determine the most effective concentration of white guava leaf extract (Psidium guajava, L). This research is an experimental study. White guava leaf extract was obtained through maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. White guava leaf extract is made in concentrations of 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 4%, 8%, 10%. The results of this study indicate that the administration of white guava leaf extract has the potential as Aedes aegypti larvacide. The most effective concentration as larvacide is a concentration of 8%. ANOVA test results showed there were significant differences in each concentration.
