Abstract

Elderly is a process experienced by all humans, this process can cause anatomical, physiological and biochemical changes in the body so that it will affect the overall body function, the elderly are those who have entered the age of more than 50 years and show a real aging process. . Nutrition is one of the most influential factors in the aging process, because lack of consumption of nutritional intake can affect energy sources in the elderly, malnutrition in the elderly will cause many health problems such as excess nutrition or obesity, malnutrition or underweight, and anemia due to lack of nutrition. consumption of protein and iron. The aim of this study was to describe the number of erythrocytes in the elderly. This research is a research with purposive sampling method, the population in this study is the elderly in Karang Tengah Village RW 01, Buay Madang Timur District, Martapura City. With a total of 45 samples with non-probability taking techniques. As a material for examining venous blood with EDTA for the examination of the Hematology Analyzer. In the research that has been done, the results show that the number of normal erythrocytes in the elderly is 25 (56%) and the number of erythrocytes less than normal is 20 (44%).
