Abstract

Hydroquinone is an organic compound in the phenol group used in whitening cream products. Hydroquinone more than 2% is included in the class of hard drugs that can only be used according to a doctor's prescription. The purpose of this study was to determine the content of bidroquinone in whitening creams A, B, C, and D. This research was conducted using the UV-Vis Spekctrophotometric method with foloroglusin reagent, the samples taken were 4 whitening creams taken from the Pekiringan cosmetic shop, Cirebon City. The results showed that the qualitative test for 4 negative cream samples contained hydroquinone. Keywords: hydroquinone, cream, Spectrofotometri UV-Vis.
